a. Note:   N521 Came to America on ship Teutonia, leaving Hamburg 29 May 1869, arriving New York 14 June 1869, with children Marie 7, Carl 6, Ferd 3, Aug 3. Hamburg passenger lists says she was from Goldberg, Mechlenburg.
 According to an account of the life of her daughter Lena, a short time after the birth of Lena in 1866, her father went to America to establish a new home. In early 1869 he sent for his wife and four small children. They took a stage to Hamburg, where they loaded their belongings on a steamship to cross the Atlantic ocean to New York. From there they took a train to Chicago, where the father had located a home and had his trade as a tailor. By 1871 both parents were dead. They had died one week apart from black small pox. The children were placed in an orphanage in Chicago.
