a. Note:   N121 On her children's birth certificates and her son Walter's death certificate she was called Mary Wartig/Wuertig.
 On 8 Oct 1891, Mary Franz was granted administration of her husband's estate. The inventory, bill of appraisement for $349.85, and the widow's award of $1550.00 were examined and approved. She elected to receive the personal estate of her deceased husband at its appraised value to apply to her award. She reported that all assets were collected, bills paid, and that the balance of the estate did not exceed her widow's award, and she was allowed to receive the balance of the estate, and discharged as administratix.
 Lived at 539 W Twelfth St in 1880-1892 at the time of the birth of her children.
 Came to America on ship Teutonia, leaving Hamburg 29 May 1869, arriving New York 14 June 1869, with mother and brothers. Hamburg passenger lists says she was from Goldberg, Mechlenburg. Came to America 1868-70.
 Naturalized in 1873 [possibly the time of her marriage.].
