Note: N40 Schenectady Gazette, May 31, 1955 Ronayne (Rona) G. DeGuerre, 70, of Scotch Ridge road, died yesterday in his home. He had been the organizer of the local Janitor's Union. BAXTER'S FUNERAL parlors will be open tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. and the service will be conducted there tomorrow at 2 p.m. by Rev. Robert S. Hoagland, pastor of All Souls Unitarian Church. Cremation will follow. Mr. DeGuerre was born In New York city March 10, 1885, and came to Schenectady in 1911 from Fort Edward. He was employed as a custodian in the Schenectady public school system for 32 years, retiring in 1945. He was then employed in the General Electric during the war years and retired in 1950. HE WAS THE DELEGATE to the Trades Assembly, an honorary member of Boy Scout Troop 29, a member of the IWW, t h e CIO and All Souls Unitarian Church. Mr. DeGuerre and his wife, Etta Bussing DeGuerre, would have celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in November. Survivors are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Lee E. Sheedy of this city, Mrs. Frank M. Wilson of Kenmore and Mrs. Cass A. Powers of Fort Edward; a son, William R. DeGuerre of Scotch Ridge road ... were recently honored by friends at an open house observing the golden anniversary. The DeGuerres were married in Fort Edward on Nov. 4, 1903 and have made their home in Schenectady 45 years. For 30 of those years Mr. DeGuerre was employed as a Janitor in the Schenectady school system, and during World War II worked in the General Electric Co., retiring four years ago. The couple have three daughters, Mrs. F. McLean Wilson of Buffalo; Mrs. Charles Powers of Fort Edward and Mrs. Lee E. Sheedy of Schenectady; also a son, William R. DeGuerre of Scotia and ten grandchldren.
