Could there be a relationship here? 15 April 1910 Roy McCARTNEY is enumerated as a hired man (farm laborer) for Samuel J. & Etta (Henrietta DOWDELL) PHILLIPS. Henrietta is possibly sister of Roy's mother, Jane. 1918 WWI Registration: Roy was living at 174 S. Bates St., Saginaw. He was tall and of medium build. Grey eyes and grey and auburn hair. 15 January 1920 Renting home. Machinist. 1930 Owned home, valued at $1000, at 339 Grant St., Saginaw., Machinist. Birth registered 26 August 1940 in Saginaw County Probate Court. Number of children living of mother: 6. Obituary published 10 May 1958, Saginaw News: McCartney, Roy E. 1666 Huntington Road (Saginaw, MI?) Passed away Friday morning at the Saginaw County Infirmary Hospital after a lingering illness. Age 72 years. He was born June 10, 1888 (should be 1885) in Tuscola County (should be Sanilac Co.) and had resided in Saginaw the past 60 years. In 1918 he married Sarah Ross. She passed away Oct. 1946. He was a machine operator prior to his retirement. Surviving are one daughter and two sons, Mrs. William Leidich, Saginaw; Ernest McCartney, San Fernando, Calif., 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. Funeral service will take place at 2PM Monday at the Gugel Funeral Home. Rev. S. N. Wallace will officiate with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 6PM Saturday.
