Before the outbreak of the 2nd World War lived at Glinki, Bydgoszcz, Pomorze, North-Western Poland illegally seized and annexed by the 3rd German Reich in 1939. Took part with the 16 Infantry Battalion in campaign in Poland from 1.9.1939 to 18.9.1939. Compulsorily conscripted into the German Forces with which he served from 26.6.1943 to 25.8.1944 when captured and held prisoner by the Allies at Reims on the Marne, France. Transferred to Polish control and voluntarily joined the Polish Forces under British command as above. Served in the United Kingdom until finally discharged. Assigned to the 1 Transit Company on 20.10.1944. Attached to the Armoured Grenadier Division on 25.10.1944. Posted to the Defence Platoon, Armoured Grenadier Division on 26.10.1944. Transferred to the HQ Company,4 Machine Gun Battalion and Light Aid Detachment Type "B", 4 Polish Infantry Division, 1 Polish Corps on 4.6.1945. Promoted Staff Sergeant on 21.4.1946. Enlisted with the Polish Resettlement Corps as above.
