  As written in Padwick's book footnoted below, in his babyhood he moved to Marash where he lived until being sent to Canada, home of his mother and father, for schooling. After attending university and seeing military service, he returned to Istanbul as a reporter/writer. In the summer of 1925 he was approached to become a Sub-Agent (Secretary) of the American Bible Society. Spent entire life as Executive Director of the British and American Foreign Bible Societies in Istanbul. Suffered stroke in September of 1951, recovering throughout spring of 1952 and resigned. Died quietly of cerebral hemorrhage on the evening of January 11, 1955.
