Note: Hosea Maner was born in South Carolina in 1800. I first located him in 1820. He was living in the Pendelton Dist., South Carolina next door to his brother Elijah Maner. In 1830 he was living in Dekalb County, Ga., his other brother Alfred was also living in Dekalb County. Sometime in the middle or late 1840's they all moved in to Cobb County, Ga. Cobb County was created in 1832 Hosea was a farmer and lived the rest of his life in Cobb County. He died there in Sept., 1887. He died without having made a will. His estate was handled in the Court of Ordinary in Cobb County. I have copied this document just as it was written in 1887. Estate of Hosea Maner J. Z. FOSTER, Attorney and Counselor at Law was the executor of the estate. Georgia Cobb, County: To the Hon. H. M. Hammett, Ordinary of said county: The petition of J. Z. Foster , administrator , of the estate of Hosea Maner , late of said county , deceased, shows that certian personal property belonging to said deceased, is of a perishable nature , and is likely to deteriorate in value , the same consisting of Corn and Hogs, and that it is to the interest and advantage of said estate that said property be sold. He therefore prays an order authorizing him to sell said property. The order to sell the perishables was signed by H. M. Hammett, Ordinary of Cobb County , on October 3, 1887. A second petition was filed and an order was signed on November 7, 1887. The petition of J. Z. Foster, administrator, of Hosea Maner, shows that he died intestate, and that Hosea Maner, late of said county, departed this life, leaving as part of his estate land in said county , consisting of lot numbers 8933 , 901 , 959 , 960 , each containing forty acres more or less; 967 , containing twelve acres , more or less and 968 containing 14 acres more or less: All laying and being in the 17th district , 2nd section of said county; that such is the situation of the estate of Hosea Maner , and that said land should be sold for division, that no fair division can be had between the heirs at law. Sale of land to J.D. Collins on 12/07/1887 $4,125.00, Mrs Lucinda Moss owing to estate,$ 26.00. Sale of personal property, $46.85, Rent from W.D. Maner $28.50. Sum Total of Estate $4,226.35 After expenses, the money was divided between more than thirty five heirs , children , grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hosea and Sarah were among the founding members of Collins Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Cobb County. Hosea and Sarah were members of Utoy Baptist Church beginning about 1826.
