a. Note:   enlisted in the confederate army in 1862. He served in Co. E First Ga. State Line. While in a
 boxcar in a cold rain he contracted a cold which terminated in what was then called brain fever from which he died in a military hospital in Savannah, Ga. March 2, 1863. This regiment was known as the "STATES RIGHTS GUARDS" JOE BROWN'S PETS.
  Leah Ann never remarried and was living in Atlanta, Ga. in 1891 when she applied for a Civil War pension.
