Notes
a. Note:   James was a Civil War veteran. He enlisted as a Private in Co C 15th Maine Volunteers and went with the regiment to New Orleans, Pensacola, Florida and Texas. He re-enlisted January 24, 1864 and was present at General Bank's Red River Campaign;also at the fight at Monacacy Bridge. He was discharged in 1866. He was promoted to 1st Lt and to acting Quartermaster AAC under order from General Gilmore.The malaria he contracted while in service, troubled him off and on for the rest of his life.
