Note: d for a Bailey family who had moved from the Monument City area to a farm near the Fishers and that is how he met Irma. After the death of Jesse, Daniel Wasmuth was named guardian of Helen. The Monument Cemetery at Monument City was moved by the civil engineers when the area was flooded for the Salamonie reservoir - Mom visited the new cemetery and Jesse's grave had not been moved. No tombstone had ever been placed on his grave and his burial was missed. Mom contacted a lady in charge and the burial removal people came back and Mom showed them where her father was buried. Mom was there when they dug up the grave. All that was left were 2 white collar buttons, 2 long bones, handle of the coffin and the rest of the remains were like coarse cornmeal. Mon, being a button collector, wanted to take the buttons, but she was not allowed to touch any items. Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, 1907 Feb. 17 Jesse Forest, of Andrews, but who formerly lived here, is reporte very poorly. Mr. Forest has catarrh and while he lived here ws forced to give up manual labor on account of the disease, and later he and his wife moved to Andrews and have since been residing with his mother.
