a. Note:   Publication: The Roanoke Times, (Virginia) Published: September 10, 2003 Headline: Obit - Roop, Sophia A. Roop, Sophia A., 100, of Vinton, passed away Monday, September 8, 2003. She was born in Baltimore, Md. to the late John and Martha Schmuff. Sophia was a member of the Virginia Association of the Deaf. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank E. Roop. Survivors include her niece, Betty Mitchell and her nephew, Harry Schmuff. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Friday, September 12, 2003, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Rev. Frank Feather officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements by Oakey's Vinton Chapel (982-2221).
