Jonesville, Va. - Ulys Grant Roop, 95, passed away Sunday (June 15, 2003) at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Big Stone Gap, Va. A lifelong resident of Lee County, Va., he was a farmer and was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Glass Roop; parents, John and Addie Roop; and five brothers, Claude, Guy, Coy, Glenn and Jenis Roop. Surviving are one son, Ernest Roop of Jonesville, Va.; two daughters, Roberta Scheuering of Brooklyn, Ohio, and Bobbie Jean Furr of Spring Hill, Fla.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Ina Mae Simmons of Dayton, Ohio, and Maude Orr of Jonesville, Va. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Arney-Mullins Funeral Home in Jonesville, Va. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bobbie Dunsford officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local church.
