1875-1880: Rebecca may have died between the time of her last child's birth in 1875 and 1880. Alex, the father of her children, was listed as divorced in the 1880 census. This is referring to his divorce from his first wife Mary Ellen Lemasters, Rebecca's sister, in March 1880. I have seen a marriage date listed online for Rebecca and Alex but have not seen documentation to back it up. Possible that they never married (common law marriage) due to the fact that Alex and Mary Ellen were not divorced.
On 31 May 2014 I received copies of Alexander Clonch's civil war pension papers. In 1898 the Pension Bureau sent an application to Alex for him to fill out. He included the name of Rebecca Lemaster as his former wife who died on May 13th, 187?. The year is cut off on the copy. The original papers need to be requested. As military records are digitized the package may one day be available online.
