He was thoughtful, positive, and never gave up hope. He was the son of Malcolm S. and Janice Montgomery Bowyer of Roanoke. He is survived by a loving sister, Marilyn; a special niece, Meghann, both of Roanoke; one son, Sean David Bowyer; and many other friends and family. Sidney was a member of Waverly Place Baptist Church and also attended Windsor Hills Baptist Church. He graduated from Roanoke College with a B.A. in Business Administration. While teaching at Patrick Henry High School he worked with children he loved and wanted to help, he went on to run a successful porcelain industry in his home and sold his work worldwide through the internet. He was a father, son, brother, uncle, artist, musician, and most importantly a fun-loving person. He had a passion for life and appreciated the little things. He was a wonderful son and generous person who cared for those less fortunate. He was loved by everyone he met and will be sadly missed. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2004, at Windsor Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. C. Lawrence Dodson officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, February 23, 2004 at Oakey's South Chapel and also from 12 noon until service time on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, 9 East Church Ave., Roanoke, VA 24016.
