  Publication: Charleston Gazette (WV) Published: September 24, 2004 Page: P10A Barbara C. Phillips Barbara C. Phillips of Charleston passed peacefully at her home on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004. Born in Charleston on Sept. 30, 1956, Barbara was the daughter of Lucy and John Caldwell. She married Rolland Phillips on Dec. 15, 1979, and their daughter, Katharine "Katie" blessed their lives on April 19, 1985. In addition to her deep devotion to her husband and daughter, Barbara found great pleasure in books, gardening, antiques, music and her home. Barbara shared her talents and skills with many individuals and institutions over the years, including the West Virginia Department of Education, Culture and History, Sacred Heart Grade School, and the West Virginia Humanities Council. In addition, her entrepreneurial spirit blossomed first with her partnership with special friend, Lynn Shaffer in Peaceful Scents of West Virginia. Her latest project was Sunny Hill Collectibles in Nitro, an antique business, operated by Barbara and her daughter, Katie. In addition to Rolland and Katie, Barbara is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Glenn Baldwin; brother and sister-in-law, Bob Caldwell and Clara; niece, Angie White and her daughters, Destani, Arianna and Kerragan; nephew, Bret Caldwell, all of Charleston; mother-in-law, June Arnott and husband, Herb, of Charleston; sister-in-law, Sandy West; her children, Michael West and Shelly Klaubo; and their children, Mallory and Elliott West of Jackson, Mich., and Ashton and Hannah Klaubo of Oneida, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Cheryl Goff and her husband, Marc, and children, Connor and Dylan of Vero Beach, Fla.; and numerous special friends. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral, Charleston, with Father P. Edward Sadie and Father Patrick McDonough officiating. A brief reception will follow in the Commons at Charleston Catholic High School immediately after the service. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, at Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's memory may be made to the Sissonville Public Library. Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston, is in charge of arrangements.
