Ruppe, 66, of 304 Kraft St. died Sept. 16, 1999, in Upstate Carolina Medical Center. A native of Cherokee County, he was son of the late James Homer Ruppe and Lonie Ruppe. He was the retired owner of Ruppe Trucking, a veteran and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Watts Ruppe; two daughters, Rita Ruppe Owens of Gaffney and Tammy R. Matheny of Charleston; a son, Billy Wayne Ruppe of Gaffney; five sisters, Alpha Sisk Hensley of Mt. Holly, N.C., Agnes Wallace and Martha Ruppe Gibson, both of Gaffney, Eula Mae Johnson of Chesnee and Lunette Bridges of Mooresboro, N.C.; and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home in Gaffney. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Baptist Church in Gaffney. Burial will be in Lavonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. The family is at the home. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
