a. Note:   Publication: The Charleston Gazette Published: October 30, 1991 Headline: S.G. Houck Mullens - S. G. "Strat" Houck, 83, of 1002 Johnson Ave., Mullens, died Oct. 28, 1991, in a Beckley hospital of a short illness. He was a lifelong resident of Mullens and was a Methodist. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 151. He attended Appalachian State University and Concord College. He was a retired field agent for the state Labor Department. Surviving: wife, Alice Mae Houck; sons, Stuart W. "Tug" and Gary, both of Mullens; sister, Virginia Brown of Mullens; brothers, Wade of Beckley, Floyd of Maben, John of Knoxville, Tenn., Jesse of Pineville; five grandchildren. Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Mullens United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald Davis officiating. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Mausoleum, Beckley. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p .m. today and one hour prior to service at the church. The family suggests donations to Mullens United Methodist Church. Tankersley Funeral Home, Mullens, is in charge of arrangements.
