  Publication: Beckley Post-Herald (Beckley, West Virginia) Published: Tuesday Morning, January 31, 1956 Headline: Clarence McVey Rites Tomorrow Clarence W. McVey, 59, 309 Ridge Ave., died at his home at 3:40 a.m. yesterday shortly after suffering a heart attack. Born in Ansted, Jan. 12, 1897, he was the son of Newt and Addie Erskine McVey, both deceased. He was a veteran of World War I, having served 18 months in the U.S. Army. He came to Beckley in 1932 and had been employed by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad as a main line engineer. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Mabscott, the Beckley Lodge No. 95, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, being a past master of the lodge, and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Anderson McVey, at home; one son, Clarence W. McVey Jr., Oak Hill; one brother, Henry McVey, Lansing; three half-brothers, George and Arthur McVey, both of Chimney Corner, and James Erskine, of Pennsylvania. Three half-sisters, Mrs. Edith Harmon and Miss Hallie McVey, Chimney Corner; Mrs. Josephine Pennington, Pennsylvania. The body will be taken from the Keyser Funeral Home to the residence at 10 a.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. James H. Neal and the Rev. N. H. Harless officiating. Burial will be made in the Sunset Memorial Park. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. Graveside services will be conducted by Beckley Lodge 95, A. F. and A. M. All members are requested to meet at the lodge at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Pallbearers include L. W. Thorn, Henry Huffman, Sam Thomson, Roy J. Lucas, L. D. Fink, Chester Ferrell, Irby Webb and David M. Anderson.
