Note: N. Kendall and C. W. Leggett, but now the property of William Wilson. Mr. Kuykendall and his wife, Kathrine Zickafoose, sister of the late Asbury Zickafoose, came from Pocahontas county in the early fifties, and after the Civil war, removed to the West. He and his son, Jacob, were soldiers of the Civil war; and Jacob, who was Captain of Company K of the Tenth West Virginia Infantry, lost his life at the battle of Cedar creek, on October 19, 1864, and his father was commissioned to take his place. His last resting-place is marked by a marble slab in the Mt. Zion churchyard. The other son, Samuel, went West. [Source: Ritchie County, West Virginia History; Chapter XXII - Chevauxdefrise Settled]
Note: The above text appears to have some errors. Nimrod did not remove to the West after the Civil War as he is still seen in Ritchie County in 1870. His son Sampson has not been found in the 1870 census but all of his children were born in WV. In 1880 both Nimrod and his son Sampson (listed as Samuel in the above) were in Wood County which is "West" of Ritchie.
