Note: Publication: The Charleston Gazette Published: Wednesday, May 29, 2002 Headline: Thomas Calvin Ullum Sr. Jacksonville, Fla. - Thomas Calvin Ullum Sr., 59, died suddenly May 17, 2002, in a local Jacksonville hospital. Born Jan. 5, 1943, in Charleston, W.Va., he was the son of Ernestine Riley Ullum of Charleston and the late Howard Calvin Ullum. On June 19, 1965, he married Mary Patricia O'Brien, his wife of 36 years, who survives. Mr. Ullum graduated from Marshall University, served as a captain in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and had lived in Jacksonville since 1970. He had a long career in the automotive business and was currently president of Duval Acura in Jacksonville. He served as an elder at Christian Family Center. In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Ullum is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Erica and Mark Hickey and Jennifer and Shane Leonard, all of Jacksonville; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Andrea Ullum of Jacksonville; sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Robert Gleason of Valparaiso, Ind.; brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Susan Ullum of Louisville, Ky.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Service was Tuesday, May 21, at the Christian Family Chapel, Jacksonville. Interment was in Mandarin Cemetery, Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Tommy Ullum Scholarship Fund, c/o Christian Family Chapel, 0365 Old St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
