Publication: The Charleston Gazette Published: Thursday, November 14, 1996 Headline: Jacob Reed Jacob "Jake" Reed, 70, of Sissonville died Nov. 12, 1996, at home after a long illness. He was a retired miner, an Army and Navy veteran of the Korean War, a lifelong resident of Sissonville, a member of UMW and VFW, and attended Sunlight Baptist Church, Sissonville. Surviving: wife, Dorothy Reed; sons, Roger and J.J., both of Sissonville; daughters, Mary Anderson and Sharon Reed, both of Sissonville, Phyllis Brown of Rand; sister, Phyllis Totten of Beaumont, Texas; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Long & Fisher Funeral Home, Pocatalico, with the Rev. Buddy Mairs officiating. Burial, with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 8129, Charleston, will be in Sissonville Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
