Note: Publication: The Charleston Gazette Published: Wednesday, September 6, 2006 Headline: Charles Bruce Jarrell Charles Bruce Jarrell, 62, of Dry Creek passed away Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. His loving family was by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Mabel Jarrell of Horse Creek. He was the owner and operator of Charles B. Jarrell General Merchandise, Dry Creek, for 32 years. Charlie was an avid sports enthusiast. He coached and officiated for many years and was a huge Marsh Fork High School supporter. He was a loyal, dedicated, faithful family man and a pillar of the community. He will be sadly missed by all, but those left who will most cherish his memory include: his devoted wife of 43 years, Carol Darlington Jarrell; one daughter and her husband, Sharon and Gary Cooper of Whitesville; one son and his wife, Brian and Jaime; one granddaughter, Amber Cooper, and one grandson, Nicholas Cooper, of Whitesville; and four brothers and their wives, James "Pose" and Martha of Purgitsville, William "Bill" and Dorothy of Bear, Del., Buddy and Brenda of Arnett and Bobby Dean and Vickie of Horse Creek. A private family graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at the Miller Cemetery, Rock Creek, with David Pettry, CLP, officiating. Charlie's nephews will be the pallbearers. A memorial service celebrating Charlie's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Liberty High School auditorium. Everyone is welcome. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Valley Funeral Home, Whitesville. In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to Marsh Fork Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 246, Dry Creek, WV 25062, or to the Charlie Jarrell Memorial Fund, c/o Liberty High School, P.O. Box 165, Glen Daniel, WV 25844. Arrangements are by Valley Funeral Home, Whitesville.
