  Publication: Hinton Daily News Published: June 27, 1905 Headline: Largest Family in West Virginia - 333 Direct Descendants Of A Fayette County Woman Still Living Probably the largest family in West Virginia is that of Mrs. Mary Ann Johnson of Kincaid in Fayette County. She has many descendants and other relatives here and in Central City and is quite well known throughout this section of the state. Mrs. Johnson is the mother of ten daughters all of whom were raised to womanhood and nine of whom are yet living. One daughter died at the age of twenty-seven. All the other nine daughters have large families. In addition to the nine daughters Mrs. Johnson has 88 grandchildren, 187 great grandchildren and 49 great great grandchildren making a total of 333 direct descendants. Mrs. Johnson was born April 1, 1810 and is now 95 years of age. She is still able to read, write and sometimes to do her own cooking. She does all her own sewing.
