Adkins Dies; Rites Tuesday Meadow Bridge (RNS) - William Adkins, 88, died Saturday at 6 p.m. in a Hinton hospital after a short illness. Death was attributed to pneumonia. He was a retired coal miner. Born at Prince, Feb. 11, 1875, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. M.I. Adkins. His wife, Kate, preceded him in death. Survivors include a brother, Pete of Layland; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Thomas of Layland and Mrs. Jennie Adkins of Welch; five sons, Henry of New Holland, Pa. Roscoe of Layland, and Ledroe, Mell, and James, all of Meadow Bridge; four daughters, Mrs. Georgia Johnson of Huntington, Mrs. Josie Townsend of Orange Lake, Fla., Mrs. Minnie Avencini of Thayer, and Mrs. Mandy Johnson of Meadow Bridge; 31 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the nickel Funeral Home Chapel in East Rainelle with the Rev. Ernest Barley in charge. Burial will be in the Pea Ridge Cemetery at Oak Hill. The body will remain at the funeral home.
