Publication: Charleston Gazette Published: Wednesday, March 19, 1947 Headline: In Memoriam In Memory of Homer Rhodes, who departed this life Mar. 18, 1943: I seem to see In the soft light A face I loved the best, I think of it when the sun's last ray, Goes down in the far off West. I miss you more as the time goes on, Than I did on the day of your going. For absence can never close my heart. The lamp of my love is still glowing Your heart was the truest in the world Your love the best to recall, For no one could take your place, You are still the dearest of all. -Vella Rhodes & son, Charles.
