These four states were scanned at the National Archives facility in such a way that the back of one person’s draft card appears on the same image as the front of the next individual. The result is that when you click to view the original image, you will see the correct front side of the draft card, but the back of the previous soldier’s card. Holliday, Rail Vet, Is Dead John Russel Holliday, 78 of 116 Queen St. died in the Chesapeake and Ohio Hospital at Clifton Forge, Va., at 2:30 a.m. Sunday after a long illness. Born at Russellvllle, July 10, 1884, he was a son of the late Henry and Frances Coleman (sic) Holliday. He was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church and the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. A conductor for the C&O. he had 48 years of service with the company. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Anna Morrison Hoiliday; five sons, Dr. Westwood H. Holliday and Vonell M. both of Beckley, Raymond W. of MacArthur, John H. of Memphis, Tenn., and J. W., at home; two daughters, Miss Marcelie Holliday of Beckley and Mrs. Manuel Scarless of East Rainelle; one brother, Joe Holliday of Lookout: 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The body is at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home.
