"Cal" Lilly, age 88, of Raleigh, died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at the Hilltop Center at Hilltop, W.Va., following a long illness. Born on Dec. 8, 1919, at Camp Creek, W.Va., he was the son of the late H. Clyde Lilly and Ora Fay Moye Lilly. Mr. Lilly was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA, and a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Lilly was a member of the Mabscott Christian Baptist Church, and the Beckley VFW Post, and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arch Lilly. Survivors include his wife of nearly 61 years, Elizabeth Ann Beasley Lilly; a son, Richard Lilly and wife, Cheryl, of Dayton, Ohio; a brother, A. Harold Lilly of St. Petersburg, Fla. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley with the Rev. Harmon Davis and the Rev. Doug Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Men of the Mabscott Christian Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
