  Publication: The Charleston Gazette Published: Sunday, March 28, 2010 Headline: Gerald Howe Cornett Gerald Howe Cornett, 85, of Charleston died March 27, 2010, in Hubbard Hospice House. He was born February 7, 1925, in Page to the late Theodore Cornett and Thelma James. His wife, Mary Kress Cornett, also preceded him in death. He was a Navy World War II veteran stationed in the Pacific Theater on the Island of Saipan. He was an avid pilot who flew his own plane for several years. He was a 33rd degree Mason, member of the Beni Kedem Shrine and the Scottish Rite. He is survived by his daughters, Dianne Griffith of Charleston, Cindy Cornett of Lexington, Ky., and Lyn James (Dennis) of Cross Lanes; grandchildren, Jason (Leigh) Griffith, John James and Katie James; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jackson Griffith. There will be no service held, which was his request. Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home, Charleston, is in charge of arrangements.
