Find A Grave Memorial# 25540490 Name: George Valentine "Feltha" Corell Birth: unknown Death: 2 Mar 1865 Montgomery County, Virginia He is the immigrant of this family, coming to this country from Germany in the 1790's. He signed his Feb 1865 will with the name "Feltha" Corell. He married Catherine Weaver on 25 Aug 1808 in Augusta Co., VA. Father of Lewis, George W., Elizabeth, Valentine C., Jacob, Henry, John Bell, and Mary Corell. Burial: Corell - Weaver Family (Union Valley), Riner, Montgomery County, Virginia Created by: sassytazzy Record added: Mar 26, 2008 (no photo)
"George Valentine "Feltha" Corell is buried on the top of the mountain in one of the three Corell/Correll Family Cemeteries in Montgomery County, Virginia. This cemetery happens to be on top of the mountain behind the house that Giles Radford Correll built, on which property originally stood the three story log home built by George Valentine 'Feltha' Corell and his wife, Catherine Weaver about 1810. This log home was moved, log by log, numbered, etc. by Romer Corell to his property in Union Valley in the very late 1890's or early or 1900's and was used as a "smoke house/storage building" for many years. It is still standing today (1999). Originally when George Valentine 'Feltha' Corell died in February of 1865, his wife, Cathernie, had a grave dug in the field beside their home with the intention of starting a new Corell Family Cemetery. The grave was dug the day before it was to be used and there was a terrible rain storm that night and the dug grave filled with water. Catherine refused the let George Valentine 'Feltha' Corell be buried in the water and demanded that he be taken to the highest point of their property and a cemetery there be placed. It is a beautful spot when you get there, but the climb to the cemetery is difficult."
