Note:   Publication: Roanoke Times Published: December 22, 2001 Headline: Myrtle Underwood Rigney Rigney, Myrtle Underwood, 82, of 1822 Fareham Rd., S.W., Roanoke and formerly of 508 Jackson Ave., Pulaski died Thursday December 20, 2001, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born October 14, 1919, in Pulaski Co., she was the daughter of the late Lucy Davis Underwood and Charles Thomas Underwood. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Pulaski, and was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Dewey Rigney. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Anderson "Juanita Jean" Shumate, III of Roanoke; two brothers, Clifford Underwood and Paul Dailey Underwood of Dublin; three sisters, Mrs. Alva Suttle and Mrs. Opal Deck, both of Dublin, and Mrs. Vivian Waldron of Narrows; also survived by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert E. Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. Visiting will be Sunday anytime after 10 a.m. at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 12 Noon until funeral time.
