a. Note:   Esquire of Grimsby, Howden, & Clee, LIN, Esquire of the Body to King Henry VI, Knight of the Shire for Leicestershire, Burgess for Grimsby. Fought at the Battles of Wakefield and Towon, and was attainted. In 1461 he fled to the continent where he spent 8 years as a Lancastrian exile. In 1469 he received a pardon and afterwards was made customer of the Port of London.
