Note:   pr. 27, 1760; died in Shelburne, Vermont Dec. 9, 1837; married Feb. 26, 1786, Lois Kellogg, born in Williamstown, Massachusetts June 26, 1768, died in Shelburne, Vermont Aug. 17, 1839, daughter of Samuel and Chloe (Bacon) Kellogg of Middletown, Connecticut, and Williamstown, Massachusetts. Jirah Isham served in the Revolutionary army, enlisting at the age of sixteen. Jirah Isham was very fond of hunting and fishing. The day of his death he went out with his gun, into the woods near Shelburne pond, a short distance from his home, in search of game. He failed to come home at night; a search was made for him in the morning. His hat and gun were found on the ice, and his body in twelve feet of water. The place was near the shore, but the infirmities of age had prevented his reaching it.
