1. Source:   Pallot - recorded the following year. BUT, also seen as marrying in Montreal.

Notes
a. Note:   Noted as eldest of 5 brothers, all of whom came to America. (Others all noted as died unmarried.) Managing Director of the Hudson's Bay Company! Part of the firm of Phynn and Ellice of Montreal and Schenectady. Dealt with William Johnson. Owned vast land holdings in the Mohawk Valley and northern NY. Submitted Loyalist claims after the RevWar. Apparently went back and forth between Montreal, New York and England from 1778 until his death. Children born on both sides of the Atlantic. Of Bath. TheAutobiography of John Galt (published in London 1833), Vol I,p. 340, mentions that he/Alexander "Old Mr. Ellice" had the Octagon Church at Little Falls NY built before the Independence. In "Resident Aliens" Kenneth Scott, p. 48., in 1817 there is a retroactive listing of Alexander Ellice, wife Ann, and children Alexander, Jr., Catherine, George, Mary Martha, William and Helena Ann. [This would seem to imply that the other children Edward, Robert, Jane, Russell and Charles, were born in North America, but that is not accurate.]
