a. Note:   Letter from Robert P. Kneisly of Fairborn, OH (4 May 1988) I believe that Jacob Kauffman (d. 1796) was son of John Kauffman, who was son of Andrew. Andrew's second wife was Elizabeth Kneisly. (31 May 1988) Christian Holdiman appointed Jacob Kauffman one of the executors of his will and this Jacob was the husband of Holdiman's daughter, Elizabeth... Question: This Jacob was fined in York Co, for refusing military service in RW. Nancy Tallman Walkowski's Jacob (DAR) served in a VA regiment. From Eric Aldhizer ([email protected] October 14, 1999 Martin's parents were Jacob COFFMAN (d. 1796, Linville, Rockingham Co, VA) and Elizabeth HOLDIMAN. The executors of Jacob's will were Jacob Reffe and Jacob Bowman. (Source: p. 4 of "Abstracts of Executor, Administrator, and Guardian Bonds of Rockingham County, Virginia, 1778-1864" by Marguerite B. Priode). Jacob was granted (June 7, 1783), land by Michael Warren and wife Catherine. Ezekiel Harrison, and Kester Wolvey also sold him land in 1788. In 1789 he was taxed for 106 acres. 1788 he is listed with a son Christian over 16 years and 4 horses; 1792 a son Martin over 16 and 2 horses. (When Christian Holdiman of Mt. Joy Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. died in 1785, he named Jacob Kauffman, who was husband of his daughter Elizabeth, one of his executors.) Martin had 3 brothers. Jacob, Christian and John. May 24, 2002 The Jacob Coffman that I have, died in 1796 in Linville, Rockingham Co., VA. The source that I have for that is The Kauffman-Coffman Lineages by Charles Fahs Kauffman. I have neither been able to disprove, or reinforce this information and cannot confirm that the Jacob m. Holdiman is the same one who died in 1796. Sandra Papineau, 16635 Scotchpine Lane, Honey Creek, IA 51542 (letter to Mark Barnhart, 10 Jan 93) lists ancestors as John Kauffman (c1737-c1810) m.
