a. Note:   He moved his family from IN to Dewitt Co. IL in 1858 when his son Thomas Wilbert was an infant. They travelled in horse drawn wagons. He later moved to neighboring Macon Co. when he bought 160 acres from the Illinois Central Railroad. The land he purchased had never been owned or farmed by another person, as the government had given it to the railroad for developement. His son Ezekial Elmer died as an infant on the same day Lincoln was assassinated. Thomas and family are listed in the 1860 Clinton P.O., Dewitt Co., IL census Image 3, line 371.
