a. Note:   Mrs. Brooksie Gardner, 76, 700 N Garth Ave, died early Tuesday morning at Boone County Hospital following an illness of several months. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Thursday at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr Arthur Fulbright, pastor of Wilkes Boulevard United Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons Ronnie Gardner, Donnie Gardner, Gary Gardner, Russell Gardner, Charles Moore and Jimmie Wyatt. Friends may call at Memorial Funeral Home until time for burial.
  Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. J R Jacobs, Rt 2, Mrs. Sam Moore, 11 N Glenwood, and Mrs. Robert Marshall, Florissant: five sons, Hugh Gardner, Rocheport, John Gardner 103 Heather Lane, Frank Gardner, 1713 Gordon St, Ronald Gardner, Monroe City, and Jack Gardner, Bixby, OK; two sisters, Mrs. Homer Calvin, Rocheport, Mrs. Luther Boggs, Route 5 Columbia; 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
  A daughter, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
  Mrs. Gardner was born Feb 8, 1895, in Howard County, the daughter of John Henry and Missouri Frances Ward Brown. She married John Wilbert Gardner in 1913 and he died April 25, 1937. Mrs. Gardner was a member of Wilkes Boulevard United Methodist Church. Whe was an alteration seamstress for several Columbia clothing firms durin her active years.
