Note: 1953 OBITUARY The Coopers bought 160 acres in Dos Rios, CA, in October, 1948. Funeral Services Held Here Tuesday For Former Resident A former resident of Downey, Ralph S. Cooper, passed away at hisranch, near Dos Rios, June 9, at the age of 50. Funeral services wereheld Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Memory Chapel. Interment was in Downeycemetery. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, a son, Ralph Jr., his motherMrs. Alice F. Cooper, of Huntington Park, two sisters, Mrs. VelmaBothwell, of Pasadena and Mrs. Hazel King, of Compton and a brother,Lorie Cooper, of Long Beach. Mrs. Cooper is the former Kathryn McCullough, daughter of thelate Joseph and Julia Ardis McCullough. She is a cousin of HaygoodArdis and sisters. B. Final Rites Held For Ralph Cooper Willits---The memory of Ralph Cooper who recently passed away at hishome on Poonkinny Road in Dos Rios will long remain with his friendsof Willits. Mr. Cooper, who four years ago purchased the old RobbinsHomestead near Dos Rios, was a former employee as a welder by the BushOil Company of Long Beach, Calif. During World War II he worked for the Douglas Aircraft in LongBeach. in his early youth he was a student at the University ofSouthern California. He was a lover of nature and of Mendocino county,a great hunter and an ardent archer. It has been said that he was oneof the best liked men in Willits and Dos Rios. He was once a welderfor Charlie Swift of Willits. At the time of his death he was workingfor the Crawford Lumber Company of Covelo. Burial was in Downey, the body having been shipped by the AukerMortuary.
