Notes
a. Note:   Dear Ralph and Jo: Here is a copy of the first and last page of Grandma's Bible where shehas listed the names and birth dates of Grandpa, herself and theirKids.
She got the Bible July 7, 1895, the year Velma was born. She notedthat date she go the Bible in the corner of the fron page where shewrote her name an address. This is the actual size of the Bible. Theprint is very small too.
Between my dad and Velma there wa a bably lost and another baby afterVelma and before Ralph that lived only one day. These are burried herein Maine. We have been to see their graves. When Grandma and Grandpaleft Maine in 1906, they went by train first to Chicago, then toCalifornia with my dad 14, Velma 11, and ralph 4. I believe she wrotein the deaths of the 2 babies in her Bible when she went to the babiesgraves for the last time, because she knew she would not be comingback to Maine again. We believe Grandpa did make two trips to Maine. One he made in 1923 and one he made just before his parents died,1925. There was a Coopere Family reunion in 1925. His parents diedjust one month apart. He got a letter from relatives here and went tosee his parents before they died.
Grandma was pregnant with Hazel at the time they left Maine in 1906and hazel waas born endo of OCtober in California. Hazel's name wasadded to the very bottom of the pafe, the only space left. That makes7 kids in all for Grandma and Grandpa. It was important to Grandma toput all her children with her and Grandpa on the same page in the backof her Bible. She prayed for each and all here whole live. I think shegot another Bible with large print easier to read. I remember her andGrandpa sitting in their bed both night and morning each reading aBible, so proper in their old fashioned nightclothes all buttoned upat the neck. The golden deges of the pages are worn from miuch use. Ican tell what she liked best, because those pages are real worn. Sheliked the 23rd Psalm.
