McCullough The death of Samuel Wilfred McCullough occurred in the city onWednesday evening. Obrn in North Hatley, Que., Feb. 15, 1872, he camewest in 1890 and settled in Boissevain. In 1902 he married Hettie MaeRollisn and moved to Souris, later moving to Killarney where heoperated a general store for several years. He lived in Moose Jaw,sask., for five years, and had been a resident of Brandon for the past38 years. He was a member of First Church Unmited, where he had servedon the session. He was in the insurance business for many years, andat the time of his retirement was with the North American LifeAssurance Co. He is survived by his daughter mres. N. Ready (Helen),of Winnipeg and a brother, W. I. McCullough of Brandon. There is onegrandchild. Mrs. McCullough predeceased him in May of 1957. Funeralservice will be held at the Brockie Donavan chapel Saturday at 2 p.m.Internment will be in Brandon Cemetery(2) 1999 Samuel was born in North Hatley, Quebec, on February 15, 1872 andthen at eighteen years of age, he came to Western canada and settledin the Province of Manitoba. Apparently he married my Grandmother in1902 and my Mother, Helen may, was born on July 26, 1906. My ownfather, Norris Ready, was a bank manager and we lived only fifty milessouthwest of Brandon where my Grandparents lived for close to fortyyears. My grandmother was very crippled with arthritis so we used tospend many weekends in Brandon as my Mother helped to catre fore heralthough throughout the week, Samuel looked after her without nursingcare. Samuel, as I recall, was a tall man and walked very upright andquite concerned about physical culture. He was an insurance salesmanfor The North American Life Insurance Company, but because of the careneeded by my Grandmother, don't believe his business career was thatsuccessful. Recall on different times my Dad helping them out onfinances. He was a very active member of The United Church in Brandon.I am enclosing a photo of both samuel and Hettie.(3)
