Ehler (as he was called) and his brother Friedrich entered the port of New Orleans , LA about 1840, He was a farmer in section 12 from 1848-1855, then section 21, Roosevelt & Meyers Rds, York Township.!Sponsors at Baptism were:

Listed in the 1850 DuPage County Census under Eli Anns 1057-1072
Purchased a farm in section 12 York Twp, DuPage County in 1848 from
Adam Glos and sold to Johann Oehmann on May 29, 1873.
In 1855 purchased 120 acres in Section 21, York Twp at SE Roosevelt &
Meyers Rds. now Lombard, IL This was a joint deal with his brother in
law Heinrich Goltermann. Later they divided their interests.
