a. Note:   Jonathan Johnson came to Lynn in 1706 (some references state 1707). On 23, December 1707, he was warned to depart from Lynn. "This was a universal custom of early settlers, especially around this date. This warning, which was given by the constable, served a protection to the town, and debarred the persons warned from becoming citizens or sharers in the public lands until a sufficient time by reason of probation had elapsed to insure the townspeople of the worthiness to have these privileges." (Lynn Scrapbooks, 54:10). Three years later the townspeople voted that he should be given some land upon which to build a house. He built a house in 1709 on Strawberry Avenue. It was still standing in 1903 and was then known as the Isaac Orgin House. Jonathan was a chairmaker. He was appointed constable of Lynn in 1723 and was elected to other offices both in church and town affairs (Lynn Scrapbooks, 54:10). He left a will (Essex Probate, #15075)
