Note: As told to me by her granddaughter Sally. Catherina Romanowski Okrutniewicz left her husband and daughter in Poland and came here pregnant with son Ludwig. She wasn't happy with husband in Poland. It must of been bad enough for her to leave a little girl behind. At some point the girl came here in later years for money. Catherine was 5'4 or 5'5. She had dark hair. She made wine. Some time in the 1950's she stared wandering the streets, probably getting lost. Son Ludwig took her to live with him on Evanston, the East side of Detroit. From there she went to stay @@ Eloise in Wayne County. She died there of stomach cancer and was not buried from a church. She is buried Gethsemity in Detroit on Gratiot Ave. (j-row 9 GR-162)
