a. Note:   Acton Fairchild and his wife, Harriet , arrived from Ohio to Indiana in 1865 and built a 2 roomed log cabin.
 They owned ground on both side of the road. Road known as Walnut Street.
  1865-Deed from Robert H. Honrd to Acton Fairchild for 3600 acres of farmland was recorded October 6, 1865.
 Fairchilds were the first white settlers in Demotte, when the town was (Little Village - Village & Keener.) Charity May Fairchild, Wolf Erwin was born in her grandfathers log house just after noon while her grandparents were on vacation in Ohio. The first house was built on a hill and later moved (about 2 blocks from corner of Lilly and Walnut Street on north side of Walnut Street, in back of grade school building) (on Halleck Street) known as the Ben Dyke home.
 The farm was known as Brooks farm and 1972 as the Zecks farm.
