a. Note:   Daniel E. Fairchild--Born in Hancock County, Ohio, on June 22, 1840, and is the second of the family of Action H. and Harriet )Day) Fairchild. He came to this county in 1868. He was owner of 86 acres of good land and fairly improved. In 1861, he enlisted in Co. D-21st First Ohio Infantry. He was discharged April 2, 1868, Ottawa, Ohio.

 Daniel E. profession is, Dealer in Real Estate and Justice of the people, farmer and owned a Livery Stable. He held office of Assessor for eleven years and as Justice of the Peace for four years.

 He was a farmer and cattle dealer. Was engaged in the battles of Stone River, Chickamouga and many others. Came out unscathed. Mr. Fairchild had an ordinary education and was a successful farmer. He was an ardent Republican. Of the surviving children, one is now deceased: Alfred D. - The rest are; Essa B., Clifford E., Della A., Daniel J., Sara Bell, Florence E., and Charity May.
