Note: In a will dated May 16, 1763 and proved March 7, 1767 in Goshen, Orange County, NY, Ebenezer Seeley leaves his "small farm, situated at Oxford, which I have lately purchased of Isaac Allison, with the house, so long as she remains my widow" to his wife, Unis (Eunice). He also leaves her "such goods as she brought to me; Also a negro girl and a horse. After her death or marriage, I leave the same to my son John. He mentions other land in New Windsor, in Ulster County. He also mentions sons John and Josiah, and daughter Mercy Bartlett, as well as eldest grandson Bezael Seeley. He leaves all the rest of his estate of his children Bezael, Israel, Josiah, John, Mercy Bartlett, and Susanah Sayre (wife of James Sayre), 20s to his son Nathaniel, and small legacies to grandchildren Mercy, Hannah and Eleazor. Eight other children are mentioned at the end, including William, Jonas, Theodorus, Elijah, Hannah, Susanah, Sarah and Mercy. Ebenezer lived in New Canaan, Fairfield County, Conn. until 1744, when he moved to Goshen. (seelyedan@@worldnet.att.net)
