a. Note:   James E. Walls received no formal education , he was self taught.
 He moved to Crawford Co. Leasburg Mo. in 1868.
 He owned a grneral store in 1875 it was destroyed by fire. He then moved to Scotia and opened a bigger store and was well off.
 He owned property in Tenn. and had aquired Eighty-three acres and five town lots and two dwellings in the city of Leasburg.
 He was a Republican and a member of the Masons.
 He was very active in the Methodist Church and His brother William M. Walls were influncial in the forming of the Leasburg Methodist Church and were on the first board of Trustees.
  Ameila and James had eleven children of which none survied them.
 His mother Ann Hidgon Walls lived with wht the family and she also was very active in the Methodist Church
