a. Note:   Arendt raised a large family in the Town of Port Washington. They were farmers. Most of the children married and remained in the area. One child died as an infant. Their youngest became a Catholic priest in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
  The following appeared in The Port Washington Star, February 16, 1918: Frank Karrels, a respected citizen of Port Washington died at St. Nicholas hospital at Sheboyan on Tuesday at the age of seventy-eight years. Death came as a result of an operation for bladder trouble. He was born in Luxembourg and came to this country when a boy, settling in the town of Belgium. Forty-two years ago he married Miss Katherine Arendt, who died a few years ago. He is survived by eleven children as follows: Jac Karrels of Chicago, Mrs. Paul Krick of Blue Island, Ill., Alex of St. Francis, Michael, John, Ben, and William, and Mrs. John Sampont of the town of Port Washington, and Mrs. Wm. Freiman and Mrs. Frank Becker of town of Belgium.
