a. Note:   f Concordia who had served Concordia as city clerk for the past 16 years, passed away at a local hospital early Sunday morning after but a short illness. Mr. Alexander had been at his office, in the city hall all day Friday and apparently was in his usual good health. He took ill at his home Friday evening and was taken to St. Joseph's hospital, where the best of treatment was provided but to no avail. Mr. Alexander was born in St. Anne, IL June 24, 1860 and was therefore past 70 years of age. He had just recently returned home from a visit back to the place of his birth, where he visited old time friends and relatives. He was married in 1883 to Miss Libbie Wamba and they cme to Concordia in 1885. Mr. Alexander entering the employ of the C. Hinman Dry Goods Company. He worked for Mr. Hinman for 18 Years and was elected as county clerk in 1903. He held the office for two terms and then went to work for the M.D. Scott Dry Goods Company and when that business was sold to Austin and Hockaday, he continued with the new firm for a few years. In 1910 he moved his family to Aurora and became a partner with Med Gosselin in a general merchandise store at that place. After three years residence in Aurora he returned to Concordia and did auditing work for the Electric Light Company and the John Stewart Produce Company. Later he opened a shoe store in Concordia, which he operated successfully until he was appointed city clerk. he was very efficeint as a bookkeeper and instituted a system of bookkeeping for municpalitites that attracted considerable attention over the state. He is survivied by his wife, one daughte, Miss Evelyn Alexander and one brother F.J. Alexander of Bradley, IL. Funeral sevices were held Tuesday morning at nine o'clock at the Cathedral and burial was made in the Catholic cemetery. Concordia, Cloud County, Kansas, Kansan Thursday, Oct 25, 1934.
