Note: homas Curtis of Wethersfield line. Truman seems to have been the onlyh one of all his siblings to have consistently used the two "s" in his surname. He was in Benton, Ontario Co, NY in the 1820 Fed Census. In 1824 it was set off as Yates County. 1820 Fed Census for Italy Hill, Onatrio, NY: 2 m 10-16; 1 m 16-18; 1 m 18-25; 1 m 26-44; 4 f under 10; 1 f 18-25. There is also another Truman Curtis in 1820 census in Canandaiqua: 4 m under 10; 1 m 16-18; 1 m 18-25; 1 m 25-44; 1 f 10-15; 1 f 16-18; 1 f 18-25; 1 f 26-44. Agriculture. Neighbors: Sherman Botchford and Daniel Stone. 1850 Census: see daughter Lois Hausch. HISTORY OF YATES COUNTY, vol I, published 1873, states, "Truman Curtiss settled on a part of lot 31, North Survery, in 1810. He afterwards moved to Lot 45, South Survey, where he lived many years. But two of his children remained in the county, Joshua B., who moved away some years ago, and Mrs. Reuben Wheaton." WOMEN IN THE WESTERN RESERVE BEFORE 1840: Henrietta, Lois, Sarah, and Emogene entered 1832. The births of all the children here come from the Hausch Bible. It is not known when the Bible was published, and it appears that all the entries were entered in the same handwriting, even the entry about Lois's death.
