He practiced law in Medina after being admitted to the bar. In partnership with Hon. Edmund L. Pitts in practice of law from October of 1860 for 11 years. A Democrat in politics, in a strong Republican county, he never held office except that of Justice of Peace, and was canal collector before the canals were free."
